I have an old Anglo concertina which I bought in Edinburgh at a shop which sold second-hand instruments and fishing tackle. They called themselves Scayles - pretty good name for what they did. Over the years they moved round the corner and changed into a fairly good music shop, still called Scayles. It's in D and A, and I had it tuned a while back at the Edinburgh Folk Ferstival, which hasn't existed for many years, but it's still in tune, pretty much. There are no maker's names or any distinguishing marks on the outside, but someone has suggested there may be something inside. When I have a moment I'll open it up and see. I'll post photos at some point as well.
I love the Anglo, and actually prefer the sound to the English, but I realise that it's very limited compared with its more popular cousin.

Very interesting Nigel. I look forward to seeing those photos. I'm sure someone here will have a good idea what make it is, once we see it. Popular Cousin eh! Come over here Nigel & you'll see who the popular cousin is, on this side of the Irish Sea! ;D Cheers Dick
