Whitby Festivals 2011

Just in case anyone will be venturing south of the border down the East Coast mainline at the end of either May or August this year here are a couple of links to folk festivals at Whitby ;D

The first is on the May Bank Holiday 27th - 29th, the Moor & Coast Spring Session www.moorandcoast.co.uk/

....... and for anyone visiting either of the festivals ( or both ) many of the local pubs are very 'folk friendly' with open sessions throughout the day (with a few establishments staying 'folk free' for a bit of peace and quiet if you want it) ;D

and even when there's no event on there's a regular open session every Tuesday and 1st Saturday of the month at the 'First Inn Last Out'

The ' Station Inn' (old Tap & Spile / Cutty ) near the Railway Station has a regular Sunday evening open session, and during Folk week there are rolling sessions throughout the day/ evening

The 'Dolphin Inn' in Robin Hood's Bay hosts the Bay Folk Club every Friday

Unfortunately the 'First Inn Last Out' will be closing it's doors on the 21st of March before either of the festivals happen.

It's a shame as it's Tuesday and 1st Saturday sessions are some of the best in town.

If a new venue is found for the FILO Folk sessions I'll post it

Only a few weeks until the first of the festivals If anyone is anyone thinking of visiting PM me and we can have an impromptu concertina session.

.........and the 'homeless' FILO folkies have been made welcome at the Thursday night Whitby Folk Club held at the aptly named Friendship Rowing Club ;D
