I have owned and "toyed" with an English concertina for years; likewise with a McCann system duet. I decided to learn to play Irish style anglo a couple of years ago as a retirement project and I have found it much more suited to my taste in music (my main instrument is a melodeon). I was lucky to find an excellent teacher, Catriona McArdle, who has encouraged me to keep practicing. Catriona also teaches children and teenagers so there is a group you need to home in on if you want a comprehensive coverage of concertina players in Scotland. Catriona is happy to take on other students so if anyone is interested they can pm me and I will pass on her contact details. She lives on the outskirts of Glasgow.
I own a 56 key Lachenal Edeophone, a 30 key Crabb C/G anglo and a 46 key McCann system duet made by Jeffries.

Very interesting Simon, Please ask Catriona to get in touch, when she gets a spare minute. I've love to learn more about her teaching, how many students, which systems etc etc. I'm sure everyone here would also love to hear more about this valuable work she is doing. That's a very interesting & versatile collection of concertinas you have there too, Simon. You must be one of these 'New Age Men' who can turn their hand to absolutely anything. Sadly, I'm from the old school, I can't even boil an egg ... without burning it! ;D Cheers Dick
